The UL Alumni Association hosted its biannual Grad Expo on February 20. The event is a convenient one-stop shop for UL Lafayette seniors to get all of their graduation needs before the big day in May. Students have the opportunity to order their cap and gown, Louisiana Ring and personalized announcements. A photographer is also present for graduation pictures in their cap and gown.

The UL Lafayette Graduate School and Office of Career Services are also in attendance to chat with students about different possibilities in their postgraduate life.  As alumni, these future graduates are eligible to bank with the UL Federal Credit Union, as well. Arguably the most enthusiastic table at Grad Expo, representatives from the Credit Union come with fun prizes and games, while informing students on how to open an account with them.

This semester’s expo included a survey from the Association of Future Alumni as a way to collect contact information from seniors. The survey encouraged students to share a memory of their favorite professor to be featured online. By submitting the survey, students were entered for a chance to win a Visa gift card.

Alumni staff and council members welcome seniors to alumni status and inform them about their free membership to the Alumni Association. Students learn about membership benefits, alumni clubs and chapters and ways to stay involved with the University after graduation. “In some cases, this is our first time talking to these students and letting them know who we are,” said Catherine Baudoin, Assistant Director of Programs. “Grad Expo is a great way for student to visit the Alumni Center in person, meet the staff and volunteers, while also getting prepared for graduation.”

Student initiatives like Grad Expo are made possible through the generous donations to our Loyalty Fund. The Alumni Association would like to thank our Loyalty Fund donors for their continuous support and making these initiatives possible. Learn more about the Loyalty Fund and its purpose.
