Spring Gala
Spring Gala has been an annual event anticipated by University and community supporters each year since its inception in 1997. Hosting this event on its given Saturday is one of the highlights of the year for the UL Lafayette Alumni Association. Proceeds from the evening are dedicated to funding strategic initiatives by the Alumni Association.

Honoring Jake Delhomme '01
A Ragin’ Cajun legend and retired NFL Pro Bowl quarterback, Jake built his career on hard work and perseverance. As a standout at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, he made history as the only true freshman quarterback to start for a Division I program in 1993 and finished his college career as the school’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns.
After signing with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent, his journey led him to NFL Europe and ultimately to the Carolina Panthers, where he became the starting quarterback
from 2003 to 2009.
He earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2005, led the Panthers to Super Bowl XXXVIII, and remains one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in franchise history. Today, he resides in Breaux Bridge with his family and continues his Louisiana roots through thoroughbred horse training.
Blackham Coliseum Unlike Ever Seen Before
This year’s Gala will take place May 9 from 6–10 p.m. at Blackham Coliseum, a Lafayette landmark that has brought generations together since 1950. For one extraordinary evening, the space will be transformed into Blackham Coliseum unlike ever seen before.
Proceeds from the Spring Gala support Alumni Association initiatives, including the Comeback Scholarship, which assists returning UL Lafayette students in completing their degrees. The program reflects our shared commitment to perseverance, second chances, and ensuring more Ragin’ Cajuns cross the finish line.
More details and formal invitations will follow soon. We hope you will save the date and plan to join us for an unforgettable night celebrating pride, tradition, and impact.
