(As told through Disney characters)

When you first begin your college career, it may seem like graduation is light years away. However, in the blink of an eye, you’re walking across the stage, receiving your alumni lapel pin, and wondering where the time went. Everyone’s college journey may differ from one another, but we all share similar milestones along the way. With commencement approaching, here’s a look back at what a typical college journey is like — as told through the eyes of Disney characters.

Freshman Year - Pluto

You’ve scheduled your classes, moved into your residence hall, and you're ready to start this next chapter of your life! Just like Pluto, you’re eager and excited for the road ahead. In typical Pluto fashion, you’re thrilled to be meeting new people and are excited to find some new puppy friends. However, you’ll probably need to learn how to cook your own doggy treats for yourself since Mickey Mouse won’t be around as often to make them for you.

Sophomore Year - Timon and Pumbaa

As you begin your second year of college, you may start to channel Timon and Pumbaa’s famous phrase: Hakuna Matata. It means no worries, at least for the rest of your sophomore year. Unlike Simba who has to stress over being king, you are feeling relaxed and enjoying the beautiful things that college has to offer. You’re starting to find your place in the Pride Lands, but just make sure to watch out for any sneaky hyenas along the way.

Junior Year - Sleeping Beauty

After lots of late nights, early mornings, and climbing up too many staircases in Griffin Hall, you’re starting to feel a little like Sleeping Beauty. It’s time to start thinking about life after college, but you just want to take a royal nap. But have no fear! You have an awesome group of magical fairies (aka your friends, family, and professors) that are here to help you make the transition into the royal real world.

Senior Year - Finding Dory

The time has arrived for you to jump into the big blue ocean called adulthood and you may be feeling a little lost like Dory. There are so many fun things to do in the ocean that you’re starting to get a bit confused; hopefully it’s not from short-term memory loss.  But in the famous words of Dory, just keep swimming. If Dory can do it, so can you!

Alumni Status - Lilo & Stitch

No matter where life takes you, it’s important to remember that “Ohana” means family, and family means that nobody gets left behind. The world can seem pretty big, but you will always be a part of the UL Lafayette alumni family.
