Philanthropy Cord

Philanthropy Cord & Exceptional Service Award

In collaboration with the Office of Community Service, the Alumni Association, offers graduating students the opportunity to be recognized for their commitment to service and philanthropy on Wednesday, May 13 at 6 p.m. at the Alumni Center.

These recognitions celebrate students who have supported the University and their community through volunteer service and financial giving.

Applications open February 24, 2026.

Philanthropy Cord

The Philanthropy Cord recognizes a student’s commitment to the University and the community through financial support and volunteer service.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, you must:

  • Graduate in May 2026
  • Make a minimum gift of your class year (e.g., $20.26 for the Class of 2026) to any UL Lafayette designation by April 13, 2026 here.
  • Complete 20+ total volunteer or service-learning hours during your UL Lafayette academic career
  • At least 10 hours must be completed during your graduating year

Submit verification of service hours signed by your volunteer/service supervisor or have your supervisor email verification directly to faryal.atif1@louisiana.edu
by April 13, 2026

Service hours may be completed through campus-based organizations or community organizations.

Exceptional Service Award

The Exceptional Service Award recognizes graduating seniors or graduate students who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to service.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, you must:

  • Graduate in May 2026
  • Be a current or former member of a UL Lafayette campus-based organization that participates in documented community service activities and/or have documented course-based service-learning hours
  • Complete 150+ verified service hours during your UL Lafayette academic career by April 13, 2026
  • Have a current UL Lafayette faculty or staff member verify your service

Application & Submission Checklist

All students will complete one application form. Within the form, you may indicate whether you are applying for, Philanthropy Cord, Exceptional Service Award or both recognitions

Required Steps:

  1. Complete and submit the Philanthropy Cord & Exceptional Service Award application
  2. Make your class-year gift (required for Philanthropy Cord applicants)
  3. Submit required service-hour verification documentation
  4. Save your confirmation email and gift receipt for your records

All requirements must be completed by April 13, 2026 in order to receive the Philanthropy Cord and/or Exceptional Service Award.
