Homecoming Week begins November 12
Mon, 10/30/2017 - 6:39pmHomecoming Week planning is in full swing on campus with the celebration only a few weeks away. Festivities start Sunday, November 12 with the Newmans Club Homecoming Mass and a new Homecoming Kick Off Brunch at Jefferson Street Pub hosted by the UL Lafayette Alumni Association.
Leading up to the game, the Association plans events throughout the week. Alumni, friends, and students have the opportunity to grab lunch at the Alumni Center for the fourth annual Allons Manger: Food Truck Round-Up while businesses and schools can show off their Ragin’ Cajun spirit with the Paint the Town Red competitions. Other events scheduled are the Alumni Open House, golf and tennis tournaments, and a special Downtown Alive!
Homecoming Day takes place on Saturday, November 18 with a 5K road race, the Homecoming Parade, and tailgating before the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns host New Mexico State at Cajun Field.
Clubs and chapters such as the Golden Ambassador Society, Young Alumni Chapter, Engineering Alumni Chapter, Red Jackets, and Christiana Smith African American Alumni Chapter are all hosting their own events throughout the week as well.
Helping the Ragin’ Cajuns celebrate Homecoming is Summer Marler Hvasta, ’07 ‘11. Hvasta has served on many Homecoming committees since beginning to volunteer with the Alumni Association in 2010. She served as Homecoming co-chair in 2015 and 2016 before being named Homecoming chairperson this year. Hvasta has also served as president of the College of Business Alumni Chapter.
