The UL Lafayette Student Government Association has been a prominent voice on campus for decades while serving the student body of the University. Now, the SGA Alumni Chapter is excited to bring these past leaders back to campus for a special summit.

The Student Government Association Alumni Summit will take place on Friday, April 12, at the Alumni Center. Anyone who has been involved with SGA throughout their time as a student at UL Lafayette is invited to attend.

Alumna Claire Pettit Arabie is leading the charge for this summit as the president of the SGA Alumni Chapter. Arabie, a three-time graduate from UL Lafayette, was the SGA president during the 2006-2007 term. “It was so great to be a student leader, and I loved being involved in multiple levels at the University,” she said.

Arabie is excited to have past student leaders come back to campus for this special occasion. During the summit, attendees will get to network with fellow alumni and hear from University leadership about the exciting projects happening on campus.

Participants will also get the chance to meet with current SGA members and have the option to donate to UL Lafayette’s Career Closet — which provides students with free, gently used professional clothing items for interviews and other professional networking events. Attendees are invited to join the Alumni Association at an optional Ragin’ Cajuns baseball game that evening to conclude the summit.

Aside from this upcoming event, Arabie is looking forward to reigniting the SGA Alumni Chapter with more gatherings and activities. “I really want to focus on keeping former SGA leaders connected to the University while also giving them opportunities to mingle with current students who are involved with SGA,” she said.  She hopes to hold mixers and other events in the future to make these connections happen.
