Alumni Mitch and Dawn Boudreaux are celebrating a significant milestone for their family. Their four children have now all become proud graduates from their beloved alma mater, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

The couple never imagined that their entire clan — Britni, Brandon, Morgan and Lauren — would follow in their footsteps as proud Ragin' Cajuns. However, they are thrilled to get to share this special bond as a family together. "I remember thinking that all of my kids were going to get a college degree and that if they all became UL Lafayette graduates, that would just be amazing," Dawn said.

Britni recalls growing up in their hometown of New Iberia and watching her parents balance attending school while working and caring for their family. Both Mitch and Dawn were non-traditional students at the University, and they attended classes in the evenings or during the day while their kids were away. "It allowed us to see what you can accomplish when you work hard to reach your goals. They were great role models," Britni said. All the Boudreaux siblings got a front-row seat to the culture and community that's rooted throughout UL Lafayette. As they got older and each started thinking about where to further their educations, they all knew they were destined to be Ragin' Cajuns.

When Lauren — the youngest and last Boudreaux sibling to attend the University — was approaching her graduation date in May of 2023, her father knew they had to commemorate this special moment. The family decided to gather on campus after her ceremony, bring their diplomas and celebrate that they were all now proud alumni with a family photo shoot. "It was really fun to coordinate this. What made it even more special is that my daughter, Rylee, actually took our picture," Britni said. In a few more years, Mitch and Dawn suspect they'll probably need to take another picture together once their grandchildren become proud graduates as well.

Even though they're all now alumni, the Boudreaux family is still highly involved and supports the University in any way that they can. "We all like to tailgate together at football games and bring our children to these fun events," Britni said. They especially like to gather and reminisce about their time on campus. "I'm still friends with people that I met on the first day of school. When you come to UL Lafayette, and you see the community, you just fall in love with it," Britni added.

For the Boudreauxs, the University is more than just an institution — it's their family's second home. And for Mitch and Dawn, they're excited for their family tree to keep growing and to continue adding more Ragin' Cajuns along the way.
