One conversation with Dalta Gary, and you'll see why she's been the president of the Alumni Association's Golden Ambassador Society for nearly six continuous years.

Gary became involved with the University's Alumni Association as a committee member for her class's 25th and 50th reunions. She later moved into a position on the Alumni Council before being invited to serve in her current role as the president of the Golden Ambassador Society.

While Gary is the hallmark of a dedicated volunteer, her enthusiasm for the Society's mission makes her stand out. "Have you arrived at the acronym for the Golden Ambassador Society?" she asked. "It's G.A.S. How appropriate, as we, the members, just step on the pedal and VaROOM, off we go promoting the excellence of UL Lafayette!"

And that is exactly what Gary and the members of the Golden Ambassador Society do. Open to all graduates who have celebrated their 50th reunion milestone with the University, members of the Golden Ambassador Society encourage student recruitment and promote involvement among alumni and businesses alike. They focus on having conversations that inspire others to become better ambassadors. And they create meaningful opportunities for their peers to return to campus – including what is sure to be a memorable gathering during Homecoming Week!

All Golden Ambassador Society members are invited to the Golden Ambassador Society Dinner on Friday, September 30, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Petroleum Club of Lafayette. This special event offers a buffet dinner, music, dancing, and a chance to re-kindle friendships, network, and share business and travel experiences with your fellow alumni. This summer, just weeks before Homecoming, Society members gathered on campus for the Alumni Association's annual Golden Reunion. This year, the reunion honored the Class of 1972. It was an entire weekend for members, with catered breakfast, a certificate and lapel pin presentation, and a campus tour. But the event's peak happened when attendees were honored during a Golden Graduate Ceremony. They even got to wear golden gowns for the special occasion. The reunion offered "time for the [Golden Ambassador Society members] to reflect on the wonderful memories, and some were amazed at the new additions to the campus," Gary said.

Beyond reunions and Homecoming, there are many ways to stay involved with the UL Lafayette Alumni Association during the year through Clubs, Chapters, and special events
