Amid a global pandemic, the Alumni Association wanted to bring some joy to our Ragin’ Cajun nation. The association recently offered a special UL Lafayette garden flag package to the public. The package included choosing a red or black flag, hardware, delivery, and installation of the flag to those that lived within a 30-mile radius of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. There were only 100 flags available, so those interested had to act fast to secure a flag.

After announcing this package, all 100 flags sold out in 48 hours. Jennifer LeMeunier, executive director of the Alumni Association, was excited to see so much interest around this initiative. “The quick response proved that people are looking for ways to have fun and connect with the University and Alumni Association,” said LeMeunier. After all of the orders were processed, Alumni Association staff members took turns personally delivering each flag to University supporters across Acadiana.

Shelia Hebert purchased a garden flag and was so excited that it would be personally delivered right to her doorstep. “It was nice to see that the UL Lafayette Alumni Association cared enough to take the trip down to our neck of the woods to make a personal delivery,” said Hebert. Most importantly, Hebert was happy to have a way to show her support for the University. “We feel as though through our purchase that we were able to make an impact by proudly displaying our flag,” said Hebert.

After the project’s success, the Alumni Association wants to continue to give fans of the University a way to stay connected. “[We] will continue to look for meaningful ways for the Ragin’ Cajun community to get involved and support UL Lafayette,” said LeMeunier. For those that are still interested in purchasing a UL Lafayette garden flag, you can contact the Ragin’ Cajuns Store at 337-482-6930. The Alumni Association wants to thank everyone who supported this initiative. May you fly your flags with Ragin’ Cajun pride!
