Clubs and Chapters News & Events: January 2020
Wed, 01/08/2020 - 10:19amAssociation of Future Alumni (AFA)
Fall 2019 had twice as many participants receive a Philanthropy Cord compared to Fall 2018. The cord is worn at commencement and earned by completing 20 hours of community service work throughout their time as a student (10 hours during their senior semesters) and making a minimum monetary donation of their class year to their designated University area of choice (Fall 2019 graduate's minimum gift amount was $20.19).
With a total of 91 recipients, students contributed over 2,000 hours of volunteer service in the community and $1,800 to different areas of the University from the students' donations.
The Association of Future Alumni has also assisted with the Exceptional Service Award, which had 43 recipients. These recipients had a combined total of approximately 10,000 hours dedicated to community service. AFA is proud of its Fall 2019 cord and medal recipients and the continued growth in both programs.
