As the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and Head Football Coach Billy Napier prep for game day on Oct. 13, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette students, alumni, and fans are gearing up for a week packed of Homecoming activities beginning Oct. 7.

The week kicks off with the annual Ragin’ Road Race Sunday morning at the Alumni Center. The Newman Club Homecoming Mass will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday evening.

Other events throughout the week include Allons Manger: Food Truck Round Up, Paint the Town Red competitions for participating businesses and schools, and golf and tennis tournaments.  Festivals Acadiens et Créoles shares a weekend with Homecoming this year and will add some Ragin’ Cajuns flair with the help of the Pride of Acadiana and football team Friday night at Girard Park.

The Alumni Association will welcome alumni Donald “Boysie” Bollinger, Dr. Herman Hughes, and Warren Perrin back to campus during Homecoming Week as the 2018 Outstanding Alumni recipients.

The Golden Ambassador Society, Red Jackets Alumni Chapter, and Christiana Smith African American Alumni Chapter are all hosting their own events throughout the week as well.

Homecoming Day begins at the Alumni Center for Open House at 9 a.m. Alumni and friends are welcome to catch the Homecoming Parade from the front lawn before heading to Cajun Field. The Alumni Hospitality Tent opens three hours prior to kickoff. The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns will take on New Mexico State for the second year in a row.

Summer Marler Hvasta, ’07 ’11 is in her second year serving as Homecoming Chair. In the last eight years, Hvasta has served on several Homecoming committees including Homecoming co-chair in 2015 and 2016 before being named Homecoming chairperson in 2017. Hvasta also served as president of the College of Business Alumni Chapter and is the 2018 recipient of the Alumni President’s Volunteer of the Year Award.
