Find the best way to stay digitally engaged with the Alumni Association
Wed, 07/08/2020 - 1:27pmOver the last several months, the COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed how we interact with one another. These changes have shifted how we are engaging with our alumni across the country. The mission of the Alumni Association is to strengthen the ties of loyalty and devotion of our alumni to their alma mater. Even though our world may look a little different, we are still committed to this mission of engaging with all of our Ragin’ Cajuns. Here are three ways that you can stay involved digitally with the Alumni Association!
1.) Follow Us on Social Media
Just because we are physically distant doesn’t mean that we have to stop being social! The Alumni Association is active on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Flickr. All of these channels allow you to stay connected with us, but each one offers unique ways to stay engaged. Are you looking to watch some videos or webinars? Head over to our YouTube channel. Want to test your knowledge about UL Lafayette? Follow us on Instagram where we are doing a special Trivia Tuesday series every Tuesday in July. Follow us, like us, and let’s stay social together, Ragin’ Cajuns!
2.) Join Cajun Compass
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, in partnership with the Alumni Association, is launching a new professional networking and mentorship platform called Cajun Compass. The platform will launch to the entire UL Lafayette community soon, but first, we are looking for volunteers for our Cajun Compass beta test! Cajun Compass offers you the opportunity to share your professional experiences with students, friends of the university, and alumni. It also allows you to gain meaningful insights from resources and alumni, post your job opportunities on our job board, and connect with other UL Lafayette alumni in your city or industry. Cajun Compass is the perfect way to communicate with other Ragin’ Cajuns digitally!
3.) Stay Updated for Upcoming Events
The best way for you to stay connected is by updating your information with us. Whether you have moved or created a new email address, updating your information allows you to receive the most recent news from the Alumni Association. As digital engagement opportunities become more common, we want to make sure that you don’t miss out on the ways the Alumni Association is going digital.
Recently, we offered two webinars to our alumni as a way to engage digitally. One was a virtual chalk talk in partnership with the New Orleans Pelicans and the New Orleans Saints. Managers from both of these organizations spoke with alumni and students about careers in the sports industry. Our College of Education Alumni Chapter hosted the Giving Stories Webinar. This led participants through a series of writing exercises that could be useful for alumni that are participating in the Alumni Student Recruitment Program. Both of these webinars are examples of the types of digital events provided by the Alumni Association. As we continue to navigate our ever-changing world, the Alumni Association is committed to staying connected with our Ragin’ Cajun nation.
