Philanthropy Cord & Exceptional Service Award Application

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation! The University wants to recognize your dedication to your community and University.

Philanthropy Cord

The Philanthropy Cord recognizes a student’s commitment to the University and the community through financial support and volunteer service hours. To qualify, you must make a minimum gift of your class year (e.g. $20.20) and complete 20+ hours of volunteer service throughout your UL Lafayette academic career (including 10 hours during your graduating year).

Due to COVID-19, the 10 hours of volunteer service needed during your graduating year in order to qualify for the Philanthropy Cord will be waived for Spring 2020 graduates. Graduates still need to have obtained at least 20 hours of volunteer service during their time at UL Lafayette to qualify for the Philanthropy Cord.

Philanthropy Cord Requirements:

  1. You will graduate in May 2020.
  2. You will have made a gift to a University designation that inspires you by April 24, 2020 (or February 28, 2020 in order to borrow a cord for your graduation photos).
  3. You will have completed 20+ community service hours or service-learning (10+ during your graduating year) by April 24, 2020 (or February 28, 2020 in order to borrow a cord for your graduation photos). (Service hours can be completed through campus-based organization service or organizations in the community).
  4. You will submit verification of service hours from the volunteer or service learning supervisor to afa@louisiana.edu no later than April 24, 2020 (or February 28, 2020 in order to borrow a cord for your graduation photos).
