Philanthropy Cord & Exceptional Service Award Application FAQ

1.) How do I submit proof of my volunteer service or service-learning to earn a philanthropy cord?

Your volunteer or service-learning supervisor can send an email confirming your service and the number of hours to kayla.hebert@louisiana.edu. You can also scan a copy of your volunteering or service-learning confirmation and email it to kayla.hebert@louisiana.edu.

2.) What is service-learning?

Service learning combines addressing a community need through service with an associated class where training, reflection, and evaluation occurs.

3.) When and where do I pick up my philanthropy cord and/or exceptional service award medal?

You will be contacted by via email after your application has been reviewed and approved with the dates, times and location for cord pick-up.

4.) How can I help spread the word about giving back to UL Lafayette?

As a recent graduate, you can advocate for the University by:

  • Keeping your employment and contact information updated will help provide more engagement activities and professional development for alumni and current students.
  • Encouraging your employer to provide internships to current students helps increase workplace skills for future alumni.
  • Making an annual gift to the University shows other alumni and current students that you are committed to the advancement of your alma mater.
