Testimonials

"This scholarship has helped me continue my goal of being the first in my family to graduate with a Bachelors degree. I'm a single mother of two amazing boys and my youngest is also a student at UL Lafayette. I have used all my Pell Grant funds, so the scholarship money was a blessing to me. I’m so grateful and proud to be a Ragin' Cajun."
- Sonja Defelice, B.I. Moody III College of Business Adminstration

"I am a Lafayette native and a senior in the Athletic Training Education Program, through which I have the opportunity to work with the UL Lafayette Sports Medicine team in treating and rehabilitating our athletes. This past year alone, I accumulated over 1700 hours from working closely with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics. As a full time student and working 30+ hours a week with athletics, there isn’t enough time in the day for me to pick up a job; I am incredibly grateful for the UL Alumni Association and this scholarship."
- Hannah Morales, College of Education

“Without the scholarship, I am not sure I would have been able to finish my senior year of undergraduate studies. The recent cuts on TOPS caught me by surprise and I didn't know what I was going to do because I had budgeted all of my money around that scholarship. But thankfully, I won the UL alumni scholarship and will be graduating as magna cum laude from the college of liberal arts. Forever blessed to be a Ragin' Cajun!”
– Katherine Read, College of Liberal Arts

“As a Alumni Scholar recipient I am very blessed to have received this award. It has helped me to fulfill my education and future goals. The flood in Baton Rouge has impacted me in a negative way and I may have not been able to finish school this semester. It has been a blessing to receive this award at such a great time.”
– Jerrell Richardson, University College

"I am so thankful for this scholarship. Being a student originally from another country, any contribution towards college tuition helps out tremendously."
– Erika Avery, College of the Arts

“Receiving the Alumni Association's generous scholarship is such an honor. To be the only graduate student to receive such an award not only gave me a strong foothold coming into this university, it also helped me to continue my professional growth. The scholarship helped me to fund not one but two national conference presentations this year with the Literature/Film Association in New Jersey, and the upcoming PCA/ACA Conference in San Diego, CA, furthering not only my CV, but my recognition within the wider academic community. The Alumni Association's financial help, and warm welcome to the community, has allowed me the freedom to not only get my name out there, but the University's as well.”
– Jennifer van Alstyne, Graduate School

“This scholarship has made it possible for me afford my final year of my undergraduate career while saving for graduate school. The cost of moving across the country is a bit daunting, but this scholarship has made the transition significantly smoother.”
– Alyssa Bienvenu, Ray P. Authement College of Sciences
